I'm a Fan

SO this Thursday, I'm going to a concert. And not just any concert. It's a MercyMe concert. And I think that's really cool, but what makes it even better is family friends of ours are going with us.

MercyMe's newest album contains a song called Even If. I really can relate to this song in so many ways it is unbelievable! The first verse or so of the song goes like this:

"They say sometimes you win some

Sometimes you lose some

And right now, right now

I'm losing bad

I've stood on this stage night after night

Reminding the broken it'll be alright

But right now, oh right now I just can't

It's easy to sing

When there's nothing to bring me down

But what will I say

When I'm held to the flame

Like I am right now"

Take the first part for instance, the lead singer is referring to how he stands on stage telling fans it'll be okay - but he has his own struggles. And I go "WHOA RIGHT THERE!! I can relate! Because you know what, there are times when I 'stand on stage' at a supporting church and I really don't want to be there because I'm nothing special. I'm human and maybe that particular Sunday isn't going so well. Or maybe it feels like my diabetes is winning that day and I feel really crummy. I'm being held to the flame or so it seems." But wait the next part of the song is even better...

"I know You're able and I know You can

Save through the fire with Your mighty hand

But even if You don't

My hope is You alone

They say it only takes a little faith

To move a mountain

Good thing

A little faith is all I have right now

But God, when You choose

To leave mountains unmovable

Give me the strength to be able to sing

It is well with my soul"

You see the above two paragraphs really make me so happy. Because yes, God is so ABLE! And even when he doesn't fix my day the way I want him to -- his plan is so much better than my plan! You know why, because HE ALONE IS GOD! And he does work with what we have. He doesn't expect me to have a lot of faith or a lot of this -- because I'm not perfect! But he does expect me to look to Him for the help I need. And when he doesn't move a mountain ( my Type One) that I think I can't handle, he gives me the strength I need to climb it. And man, the view is gorgeous!

"You've been faithful, You've been good

All of my days

Jesus, I will cling to You

Come what may‘

Cause I know You're able

I know You can"

Guys, I'm a fan. And my God is able.

This song does feel like it was tailor made for me, but it wasn't. Yeah it was tailor made for someone with Type One, the lead singer's son. And I think that is really cool too.
