Top 10 American Things I Enjoy

Well, well, well...

For starters, it's been awhile. How are you, my dear readers? I hope you've all managed to stay safe and healthy.

Moving forward, I'm sure that a few of you remember that I started a "Top 10" series a while back. This post, I believe, will be the end of that adventure.

Taking its place will be a new series called " Dear [fill in the blank]", which will be a longer series of posts consisting of letters to people, places, or things, which I am grieving the loss of. I'm sure it comes as no surprise that we all are grieving the loss of something in this season of our lives. It hasn't been easy for any of us.

My hope is that by reading from the "Dear [fill in the blank]" series, you will be encouraged to mourn your own losses and find the closure that is necessary for you to move forward in your own life.

My outlet is writing, but yours could be something entirely different. I encourage you to find your outlet, and let God heal you as you express yourself creatively.

With that being said...

Top 10 American Things I Enjoy

1. Fresh Air

You'd be so surprised at what a relief it is to breathe in air that is free of sand, dust, smog, smoke, fumes, stenches, etc. Fresh air is a simple delight.

2. GREEN

I don't know why, but it seems like for every step you take there is a tree somewhere. Green, living plants are just everywhere. It's beautiful!

3. The Sunny Days

It's not that there isn't sun in Africa, there's a ton of it... American sun is just different, less scalding... If that's even a thing.

4. High Speed Internet

In Senegal we have high speed internet too, but it is so slow... You could send a message and two hours later it's still trying to send. Here, you click a button and it's already been seen by the other person... CRAZY!

5. Spotify Without the Hassle of a VPN

Being on American soil, I can now use Spotify whenever I want without needing to fire up a third party VPN. It's the little things, I promise.

6. Rain in May

In Senegal the weather is just drastically different. When it's hot season, it rains all the time and everything is just so humid and nasty and hot out. But in cool season (which is much longer), there's no rain at all and it is really dry out. Here in the US, however, you have rainy days all year round that get sprinkled across the calendar... amazing.

7. Ninety Nine's

We haven't been able to go yet, but when we do, it's gonna be awesome! I have a standing order that's always the same and so delicious. I highly recommend their Bacon & Cheese Burger with Russet Mashed Potatoes...

8. Microwaveable Popcorn

It must be American because we've never found it overseas that I can recall...

9. Richardi's

I am happy it's a family run business because that makes the service you receive 100% awesome and personal. But, I'm also sad it isn't a chain business because that means I won't be able to have any for a lonnnnnng while.

10. Dunkin Donuts

Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Plain Toasted Bagel with a chocolate filled donut and small iced coffee coolatta on the side.... the life!
